Southern Farmer Speaks Against The North's Plan

I'm talking with a southern farmer from Texas as he talks about his dislike for the new government.
"Well that there new President Lincoln got rid of my free slaves and made me pay for them."
How does that make you feel?
"I don't like it, me and the other farmers in the south are gonna lose alot of money when we have to pay for our slaves."
Now, what do you think will happen to the freed slaves.
"Um I really don't know i think that they better not try to get into our government."


Once the Civil War ended and the North freed slavery the south fought against the African Americans in political offices. The name of those who were attacking the African Americans were called the Klu Klux Klan. The KKK would destroy African Americans homes with fire or explosives. They would also kill African Americans in public places to scare others not to hold offices and work in high places. Other than that there were still segregation. There were different train cars for whites and blacks and different schools and restaurants.
